¨Is it hard for you to see?¨

I go to church in a nearby town every Sunday and I have gotten to know this cute El Salvadoran family. They have 4 kids (3 girls and 1 boy) and they LOVE me because of my blonde hair and blue eyes. They always call me their muñeca (doll). Haha!:) Anyway, so I have had some funny conversations with them. One Sunday I had a conversation with one of the girls, who is 10. Here is the gist of what we talked about:

her:¨Is it hard for you to see?¨
me:¨no, why??¨
her:¨Because you have blue eyes. They say that people with blue eyes can´t see very well. They´re too light¨
me:¨Well, that´s not true. I can see very well. I can see just like you can.¨
her: *surprised face...eyes opened big and mouth a little open*
LATER
her: ¨When you talk to your husband in English, does he understand what you´re saying to him?¨
me:¨Yeah, he does.¨
her.¨And when he talks to you in English, do you understand him?!?!?!?¨
me: ¨Yep, I do.¨
her: ¨Wow, that´s cool. So, were you born speaking English?¨
me: ¨Well, I wasn´t born speaking English, but I started learning English once I was born¨
her: ¨Really?!? That is so weird. You mean, you didn´t speak Spanish before you learned English?¨
me:¨No, actually, I don´t know Spanish very well. I´m still learning¨
her:¨Nuh uh! You still don´t know Spanish!??!!!?!? It´s so easy!¨
So she whips out her Libro de Mormon and has me read a verse. Then she has me read a verse from my Book of Mormon, JUST to make sure that I wasn´t lying and that I really didn´t speak Spanish very well. Haha! I love what little kids think about foreigners.

Oh, and did I mention I got punched by one of the kids here? Hahah! It was kinda funny, but a little frightening too. There is a girl here with Downs who isn´t the friendliest of the residents. I asked her one day if I could take a picture of her. She glared at me, said ¨NO!¨and then punched me in the stomach (kinda hard...but I have abs like steal, so I was just fine) and then laughed and walked away. Oh the many experiences of living in Central America:)

This is absolutely hysterical. When I read it aloud to Ryan, he literally busted out laughing...at both the little girl stories and the fact that you got punched. Who was it that punched you?

I got punched by Nelly...she scares me! I normally don´t talk to her directly because she yells, pinches, or in this case, punches! Haha:) She is fierce.
