Happy Padre Day!

Hello, blogging world/my family world. Hello.

So this last week has been crazy here for us El Salvadorians. Yesterday was Father's Day (yeah, weird, huh? They have it during the middle of the week) so TODAY was fun day. Well, yesterday was too, but today there was a big event for the kids, but mostly the nineros and other workers here in the Hogar. The day began with a mile race to the Hogar. Andrew and I DID NOT participate, thank you. I hate running, and Andrew didn't want to wake up just to run:). Then started the tournament-style softball and soccer games. Andrew and I were on a softball team that was bet on to win the tournament, but we lost in the first game. Haha!! It's because I was playing second base and they don't believe in using gloves around here, so I couldn't catch any ball for the life of me. Andrew and I switched spots just a little too late. Then they put the worst batters up first, so we struck out within our first 5 batters. Ouch.

Then Andrew and I played on separate soccer teams. I LOOOVVEE soccer and I was definitely excited to show my skills to the Latinos. Well, my team also lost after it's first game (it was kind of an unfair advantage because we had to play against a guy's team since they were short a girls team...seriously, people??). How lame is that? I know...but Andrew's team won the championship!! WOOT WOOT! So he won a soccer ball, which is sweet because that means I get to use it!! It's actually pretty cheap because it's lopsided already, but shoot! Who cares? I'm excited to have a ball to play with.

Anyway, so we have a few videos. I love videos, btw. They're great, and can be so funny.

Okay, description of this video...there are 4 Nuns who work at this orphanage. Hermana Umblina (the head nun, from Brazil), Hermana Iliana (head nun when Umbelina is gone, from Brazil), Hermana Suelena (from Brazil), and Hermana Guadalupe (from El Salvador). Well, Hermana Iliana is kick BUTT. She is a feisty one and played softball AND soccer today. Not only did she play, but she played hardcore. See for yourself...

and yes, I totally admired her. I love this nun...she's the coolest.

Our softball team (part of it)

Andrew and Roberto after the day's activities were over

Here is a picture of Juan...we helped him put his iron on of Hombre Arana (Spiderman!) which he LOVED and couldn't stop talking about making his shirt (which we did with him yesterday). He kept saying that he'd be bonito at the games today with his spiderman shirt. Haha:) He even ran and jumped in front of Angelica (the social worker here) and said that he was Hombre Arana! Haha:)

One more video for you kids... so last Saturday we went to the beach El Tunco for a visit. I WISH we would have gone to swim, but we just went to conocer the place. It was pretty, and the waves were humungo. Kinda scary, but the water was so warm and I just love the beach. So here's a video of El Tunco!

Wow, too many things to blog about...so Andrew broke the roof here while practicing softball. He only hit twice in practices...the first time he line drived the ball into this lady's shin. Then he hit a pop fly WAY past the field and through the roof of the sidewalk that is pictured. Yeaahhh...good thing neither he nor I got to bat at our game today!!

If you look in the picture past the gat by the building in the back...you can get an idea of how far away Andrew was when he hit the ball to where it broke through the roof

theres the hole...haha!

So much in one blog...not sure what to comment about. Love the beach trip, but seriously, no swimming? C'mon sister "I'm-a-beach-lover" my foot! Real lovers swim in the ocean. Love the sports even if you did lose every single time- a little pathetic, but I won't judge too much. Love the videos. Keep them coming.
